Swedish national broadcaster SVT is developing a new TV series set in Camilla Läckberg’s popular Fjällbacka universe. The series, titled The Shadow of Guilt (I skuldens skugga), is produced by Creative Society in co-production with SVT and Film i Väst.
The six-part crime drama continues the story world surrounding author Erica Falck and police officer Patrik Hedström, who are once again drawn into a long-buried disappearance that resurfaces after 20 years.
A cold case resurfaces in Fjällbacka
When Erica Falck discovers the remains of her childhood friend Sara, who has been missing for two decades, a case that has haunted the local community is reopened.
Her husband Patrik Hedström leads the police investigation, while Erica becomes increasingly involved in the case on a personal level. Her memories from the night Sara disappeared return, bringing both unanswered questions and feelings of guilt.
As Erica searches for the truth, she begins to question the earlier police investigation into the disappearance. That investigation was led by Patrik’s mentor and friend, which adds further tension to the case.
The growing involvement of both Erica and Patrik in the investigation leads to increasing strain in their marriage, as the pursuit of truth collides with their personal lives.
A globally successful author returns to Fjällbacka
Camilla Läckberg is one of Sweden’s most widely read and internationally successful authors, with more than 40 million books sold in over 60 countries and translations into 38 languages. Her Fjällbacka novels are among her most popular works.
Läckberg says she looks forward to returning to Erica Falck and Patrik Hedström in a new story that is both suspenseful and emotionally powerful.
