Netflix recently released a trailer for the anticipated Danish thriller The Secret Woman (Den hemmelige kvinde), a new feature film from the creators of Loving Adults. Based on the novel of the same name by Anna Ekberg (a pseudonym for the Danish writer-duo Anders Rønnow Klarlund and Jacob Weinreich), the film is set to premiere globally on Netflix on August 28, 2026.
Helmed by Loving Adults director Barbara Topsøe-Rothenborg, who also co-wrote the script with Anders Frithiof August, the film centers on Louise Andersen (Natalie Madueño), who runs a small café on the Norwegian island of Hidra with her partner, Joachim (Pål Sverre Hagen). Their quiet life is disrupted when a stranger arrives and insists that she is not Louise, but Helene Söderberg, a Danish woman who disappeared three years earlier. Louise soon learns that she is married and the mother of a young boy. Determined to uncover the truth about her past, she leaves Joachim and the life she knows to search for her family and find out what really happened on the night she vanished. As she digs deeper into Helene’s story, she uncovers a shocking truth that upends everything she thought she knew.
