Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for Troll 2, the sequel to the global monster hit that became, to date, the most watched non-English film of all time on the streaming platform after its December 2022 debut, drawing a record-breaking 103 million views. Troll 2 will lauch globally on Netflix on December 1, 2025.
With the stakes higher than ever and danger escalating to new heights, Nora (Ine Marie Wilmann), Andreas (Kim Falck), and Captain Kris (Mads Sjøgård Pettersen) reunite alongside fearless newcomer Marion (Sara Khorami). Together they must confront a monstrous new troll—more relentless and destructive than anything they’ve faced—as it spreads chaos across Norway.
“I am beyond proud of how audiences around the globe connected with the first Troll film far beyond what we imagined. With the sequel, we are aiming high – expanding the scope, deepening the story, and creating a troll-sized spectacle like you’ve never seen before. I cannot wait for fans to experience the adventure we have in store.”
Roar Uthaug, director & co-writer

Filming Details
Filming of Troll 2 began in March 2024 when a large film crew arrived in Trondheim to start shooting the sequel, according to NRK. The spectacular Nidarosdomen Cathedral was one of the main locations, along with other places in the city. An article from Under Dusken offers behind-the-scenes photos from the Trondheim shoot and more details about the making of Troll 2.
Another central film location in Norway was Jotunheimen (the ‘Home of the Giants’). This spectacular mountain landscape, which was also an epic backdrop in Troll, is located in the municipality of Lom in central southern Norway, a 5-6 hours drive north-west of Oslo. Jotunheimen was also one of the finalists for the EUFCN Location Award in 2023, and this National Park area includes two of the highest peaks in Northern Europe, Galdhøpiggen (8,100 ft) and Glittertind (8,087 ft).
Filming of Troll 2 in Jotunheimen started in April 2024, and it was covered in this article (in Norwegian) by NRK, including a few behind-the-scenes photos from the shooting.
Troll 2 is currently in post-production and will be released on Netflix on December 1, 2025.
