The creators of the Netflix blockbuster film ‘Troll’ have revealed to NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation) that the famous Gothic cathedral of Nidarosdomen in Trondheim, Norway, will play a central part in the sequel.
The Norwegian ‘Troll’ became a big success rising to the top of the global charts on Netflix shortly after its launch on December 1st, 2022, with more than 100 million views worldwide. In March this year, a film crew of 150 people will arrive in Trondheim, the fourth-largest city in Norway, to start shooting ‘Troll 2’, according to NRK. Besides Nidarosdomen, several other locations in Trondheim will act as backdrops for the film.
“When we are making an arch-Norwegian film like that for a global audience, we need to show the best we’ve got,” says the director of ‘Troll 2’ Roar Uthaug (who also directed the first ‘Troll’ film) to NRK.
There are great expectations for the sequel of ‘Troll’, and the producer of the film, Espen Horn, says that the citizens of Trondheim will notice their presence when they start filming, and it might include some loud noises and lit-up areas in parts of the town. “But we will behave and act like people, be nice and charming, listening to Trondheim city, and there might be local people from Trondheim involved both behind and in front of the camera,” he adds.
Once again, the Oslo-based production house, Motion Blur, is producing the ‘Troll’ film, which is expected to be released sometime in 2025, says the producer to NRK.
