Nordic entries made a significant impact at the 37th European Film Awards, with three wins and multiple nominations. The Palestinian/Norwegian documentary No Other Land won the European Documentary category, while the Norwegian debut feature Armand received the prestigious European Discovery – Prix FIPRESCI, and The Remarkable Life of Ibelin, also a Norwegian documentary, was awarded the European Young Audience Award.
The winners were announced on Saturday, December 7, during a ceremony with more than 1,000 guests held at the Lucerne Culture and Congress Centre in Lucerne, Switzerland. This year’s event was streamed and broadcast live to 18 European countries.
The European Film Awards are widely regarded as the premier cinema honors in Europe, and this event served as the grand finale of the European Film Academy‘s Month of European Film, which kicked off a month earlier.

In addition to these remarkable award-winning Norwegian films, the nominees included significant contributions from several Nordic countries, showcasing the talent, diversity and depth of cinematic storytelling from the Northern region.

The first edition of the European Film Awards was in Berlin in 1988. The aim of the awards is to promote and support the European film industry. They take place every other year in Berlin and move around Europe in the other years: London, Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Warsaw, Copenhagen, Tallinn, Malta, Riga, Wroclaw, Seville, Reykjavík in 2022, and now Lucerne.
