Sweden’s TV4 has announced the release of the 51st film in the Beck series, Beck – Vilhelm, starring Valter Skarsgård (Lords of Chaos) as Vilhelm Beck. The film will have an exclusive premiere on TV4Play on December 6, 2024.
The Beck series, one of Sweden’s most successful crime dramas, is based on the iconic Martin Beck novels by Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö. The series stars Peter Haber (Beck, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) as the main character, Martin Beck. However, this latest film focuses more closely on his grandson Vilhelm Beck, exploring whether he will become a permanent member of the Beck group—and how his decisions will impact the team dynamics and his relationship with Martin Beck.

The film is about three young watch robbers who wreak havoc in Stockholm’s finer neighborhoods in search of quick cash. However, what begins as a series of robberies takes a dark turn when one crime culminates in a brutal, execution-style murder. Vilhelm Beck’s patrol is the first to arrive at the scene, and the Beck group quickly grasps the gravity of the situation.
Under pressure to quickly put an end to the robber league and prevent further casualties, the case becomes a race against time. The operation is led by newly appointed police chief Ebba Ståhl (played by Nina Zanjani). The dramatic conclusion will profoundly impact the main characters, leaving lasting scars.

Beck – Vilhelm is directed by Per Hanefjord (A Nearly Normal Family) and written by Annika Sandahl (Beck). The film is produced by Francy Suntinger and Malini Ahlberg at Filmlance International (part of Banijay), in co-production with TV4, Nordisk Film Production and ZDF, with additional collaborations from DR, TV 2 Norge, Nordisk Distribution, and Banijay Rights. Johanna Lind serves as Head of Drama for TV4, with Jon Mankell as Executive Producer.
In addition to Peter Haber and Valter Skarsgård, the ensemble cast features Jennie Silfverhjelm, Martin Wallström, Måns Nathanaelson, Anna Asp, Elmira Arikan, and Nina Zanjani.
