Festival Partnership

SkyShowtime Extends Partnership with Stockholm International Film Festival for 2024

In its second consecutive year, Europe’s latest addition to the streaming landscape, SkyShowtime, will be the official streaming partner for the 35th edition of the Stockholm International Film Festival, taking place from November 6th to November 17th, 2024. Moreover, the streamer will continue its sponsorship of the prestigious SkyShowtime Rising Star Award, supporting emerging talent in the Swedish film industry.

This year, the festival will feature several SkyShowtime activations, starting with a Yellowstone Saga-themed event, as the streamer brings classic vehicles inspired by the 1883 and 1923 series to the Drive-In Sommarbio screenings – the largest outdoor cinema in Europe.

In addition to other events, SkyShowtime will host a panel focusing on the importance of original content during the festival, featuring a senior leader from the streamer’s content team. This session will showcase selected content from the streaming platform, to enhance the discussion and bring it to life.

“We are super happy to continue this successful partnership for another year with SkyShowtime as our Official Streaming Partner. It’s a perfect match having SkyShowtime present the important “Rising Star Award”, where we together will honour the next upcoming and talented star in the business. Combining our efforts with a pioneering brand in the entertainment space, such as SkyShowtime, will help us move forward as one of the leading film festivals in Europe.”

Magnus Larsson, Head of Marketing at Stockholm International Film Festival

About SkyShowtime Rising Star Award

The Rising Star Award was founded in 2008 with the goal of highlighting young actors who have delivered outstanding performances in film and television throughout the year and have the potential to become tomorrow’s big stars. The purpose of the award is to early on showcase Swedish talents in their careers and invite them to the Stockholm International Film Festival, where they have the opportunity to network within the film industry. The winner also receives a trip to Cannes Film Festival the following year, where they can meet international industry professionals and attend Red Carpet screenings. Among the prize winners and nominees are notable names such as Alicia Vikander, Joel Kinnaman, Rebecca Ferguson, Alba August, Edvin Ryding, Sara Shirpey, and most recently, the acclaimed actor Hanna Ardéhn.

The announcement of the winner of the SkyShowtime Rising Star Award will be revealed at the award ceremony of the Stockholm International Film Festival in November 2024.

“I had the pleasure of speaking at Stockholm International Film Festival in 2023 and witnessed the passion and dedication the team had for delivering a festival programme that showcased a diverse range of the most exciting international and local entertainment at that time. It resonates so incredibly well with our proposition at SkyShowtime, that we had to return this year!”
