Today, Netflix has released the official trailer for Troll 2, the highly anticipated sequel to its 2022 global hit Troll, the most-watched non-English language film in the platform’s history. The original reached over 103 million views following its debut, setting high expectations for the next chapter, which launches worldwide on the platform on December 1, 2025.
“I am thrilled to give the audience a bigger bite of what’s to come. Diving deeper into the mythology of Norse folklore and building this monstrous adventure has been an incredible experience – one that I believe will delight fans and draw in new ones.”
In Troll 2, a new monster threatens Norway once again. The trailer introduces ‘Megatroll’, a towering creature that prompts the return of Professor Nora Tidemann (Ine Marie Wilmann), who joins forces with Andreas Isaksen (Kim Falck) and Major Kristoffer Holm (Mads Sjøgård Pettersen) to confront the growing danger. With spectacular scenes shot on several locations in Norway, including snow-covered mountains and the majestic Nidaros cathedral in Trondheim, the trailer promises an action-packed return to the Troll Universe.
The sequel also adds new characters, including government official Marion Auryn Rhadani (Sara Khorami) and historian Esther Johanne Tiller (Anne Krigsvoll), expanding the story’s ensemble. Director Roar Uthaug returns to helm the sequel, describing it as a larger-scale continuation that builds on the world established in the first film, alongside returning writer Espen Aukan and producers Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkerud of Oslo-based production company Motion Blur.
“We approached Troll 2 with Nordic mythological humility – but quickly caught Nora’s ‘Hey ho, let’s go’ spirit, charging ahead with the Netflix Nordic team as our partners.”
