The Last Viking is a dark comedy exploring identity and the notion of what is considered ‘normal’. Directed by successful Danish filmmaker, Anders Thomas Jensen (Riders of Justice), and produced by renowned Copenhagen-based production company Zentropa, this marks Jensen’s sixth feature film, all of which have featured Mads Mikkelsen and Nikolaj Lie Kaas, as well as his second encounter with celebrated Danish actress Sofie Gråbøl (The Killing, The House That Jack Built). Jensen’s last feature, Riders of Justice, with Mikkelsen and Lie Kaas, became a great international success, and he is known for frequently casting them for his films.

Synopsis
After serving 15 years in prison for robbery, the loner Anker is finally released. The only person who knows where the stolen money is hidden is his brother, Manfred. However, Manfred has suffered a mental setback, leaving him unaware of the treasure’s location. Determined to recover both the money and a sense of themselves, the brothers embark on a journey back to their childhood homeland – one that will test their past, their bond, and their identities.
