SkyShowtime has officially announced its new Swedish original series, Where the Sun Always Shines, which is set to premiere later this year on the European streaming platform. Created and directed by acclaimed Swedish filmmaker, writer, and actor Felix Herngren (Sunny Side, The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared), the six-part series promises a compelling blend of dark drama and humor.
“Many dream of a new life in the sun – and so did my family and I. After just a week in our new country, Spain, the idea for this series began to take shape. There were so many life stories, dreams, and fascinating cultural clashes to turn into drama and comedy. And I’m especially happy that SkyShowtime wanted to develop it with us!“
Felix Herngren, creator and director
Filmed on location in Mallorca, Spain, the series boasts an impressive Swedish lead cast, including Erik ‘Jerka’ Johansson (Bonus Family) as Timmy Kraft, and Rakel Wärmländer (Limbo) as Maja Kraft, alongside Per Lasson (The Thin Blue Line) as Tom Kraft, and Lisa Linnertorp (Sunny Side) as Petra Kraft. Bringing the story to life, head writer Maria Nygren (Meaning of Life, Love & Anarchy) and co-writer Josefin Johansson(Love & Anarchy, Top Dog) have crafted the narrative of the series.
