Trailer and Poster Released for ‘The End’ Featuring Tilda Swinton in a Daring Post-Apocalyptic Musical by Joshua Oppenheimer

Tilda Swinton in THE END

Six-time Oscar-nominated Danish production company Final Cut for Real has just released the official trailer and poster for Joshua Oppenheimer’s (The Act of Killing) post-apocalyptic musical and feature film debut, The End. The film stars Tilda Swinton (Michael Clayton), George MacKay (1917), Moses Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit), and Michael Shannon (Nocturnal Animals).

The End premiered at the Telluride Film Festival on August 31. It has been screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, the San Sebastian Film Festival, and recently at the Chicago International Film Festival. The film will be released by Neon in the US and is set to hit select cinemas on December 6th, followed by a release in Denmark on February 20.

Synopsis

The End is a post-apocalyptic story about a wealthy family living in a salt mine converted into a luxurious home. The earth around them has apparently been destroyed, but their son has never seen the outside world. As a young girl appears at the entrance of the bunker, the delicate balance of the family is threatened.

Production

The film is written by Joshua Oppenheimer and Signe Byrge Sørensen (The Act of Killing). It is produced by Final Cut for Real in co-production with Anagram (Sweden), The Match Factory (Germany), Wild Atlantic (Ireland), Moonspun Films (UK), and Dorje Film (Italy). Scandinavian Film Distribution oversees distribution in the Nordics, while The Match Factory handles international distribution.
