Netflix Drops ‘Troll 2’: VFX Breakdown Featuring Director Roar Uthaug

Troll 2, arrived on Netflix on December 1 and reached the top of the global streaming charts in just a few days, according to streaming analytics platform FlixPatrol. The sequel follows the success of Troll, which remains the global streamers most-watched non-English-language film to date. Alongside the new release, Netflix has shared a VFX Breakdown video where director Roar Uthaug (Troll, The Wave) takes viewers behind the digital creation of the film’s trolls.

In the breakdown, Uthaug appears within the film’s digital environments as he presents how the trolls and large-scale visual effects were constructed. The video showcases elements from the production pipeline, including the interaction between live-action footage and digital components used to create the creatures and landscapes.
