After two years of waiting, the popular Danish drama series ‘The New Nurses’ (original title: Sygeplejeskolen) returns to TV 2 Play and TV 2 Charlie for its sixth season. This season will reveal the answers to the dramatic ending of the last season, culminating in a tragic fire at Fredenslund.
Under the continued production by SF Studios, filming for the series began on April 29th. This time, the location has shifted from SKT Hans Hospital in Roskilde to Risbystudierne in Albertslund.
“We have known for a long time that it was not possible for us to continue filming at Skt. Hans, and we have creatively used this constraint in the story. We have chosen to rebuild our well-known location at the studio, so viewers will experience that we are still at Fredenslund Hospital. And in fact, the decorations are so similar that the film crew sometimes forgets that we are no longer in the familiar setting of Roskilde.”
Senia Dremstrup, Producer at SF Studios

The lead writers for ‘The New Nurses’ continue to be Claudia Boderke (‘Hunting Season’, ‘Sygeplejeskolen’) and Lars Mering (‘Hunting Season’, ‘Sygeplejeskolen’). Additionally, Roni Ezra (‘Elves’, ‘Sygepleieskolen’, ‘Gidseltagningen’), the conceptual director from the first season will return to direct the initial three episodes, while Ask Hasselbalch (‘Antboy’, ‘Kometernes jul’) will helm the final episodes of the series.
“Sygeplejeskolen is a beloved series on both TV 2 Play and TV 2 Charlie, and many have been awaiting resolution after the fateful ending of last season. In the new season, the series’ characters are each affected by the fire in their own way. Some stared death directly in the eyes, others must live with the scars, while some discovered less heroic sides of themselves. What they all have in common is that the fire prompts them to reassess their lives. Are they living the life they want, or is it time to pursue what feels truly right?”
Mette Heiberg, Executive Producer at TV 2 Denmark
