The new Danish revenge thriller ‘Crossing Lines‘ (original title: ‘Hele vejen’) is the feature film debut of Danish director Jahfar Muataz, born in Baghdad.
It was recently picked up by the French international sales company, Playtime, which will launch the title at the Marché du Film (Cannes Film Market) in May 2024.
In ‘Crossing Lines’, Muataz delves into complex themes of revenge, justice, and the blurred boundaries between right and wrong. Copenhagen is set as the backdrop for the film which is currently in production.
The script is written by Jahfar Muataz and Babak Vakili (‘Fredløs’, ‘Fixer’), and the esteemed cast features actors Afshin Firouzi (‘Boundless’), Charlotte Fich (‘Borgen’), and Albert Arthur Amiryan (‘Forhøret’), as well as Soheil Bavi, Marwan, Stephanie Leon, Tarek Zayat, Arian Kashef, and Kenneth M. Christensen.
Cairo, a reformed criminal, enjoys his new life as a gang exit counselor. When his nephew Hamza disappears, Cairo discovers he had secretly joined his former gang. Despite his pledge to avoid violence, frustration with the police’s lack of action pushes Cairo to seek help from his former underworld connections. His investigation leads him into Copenhagen’s criminal scene. Despite his efforts to avoid violence, his past instincts resurface…
