The erotic-comedy drama ‘MILF of Norway‘ marks the debut of the first Norwegian Max original series. Scheduled to premiere on May 21, 2024, it will be available internationally on Max the same day as the new streaming service by Warner Bros. Discovery launches in Europe.
Directed by Rune Denstad Langlo (‘Welcome to Norway’, ‘Chasing the Wind’, ‘Nord’), the eight-part series features Norwegian actress Mariann Hole (‘Made in Oslo’, ‘Wisting’, ‘The Half Brother’) and Trond Fuasa Aurvåg (‘Oppenheimer’, ‘The Bothersome Man’, ‘Gone With the Woman’). The story is based on an idea by Birgitte Bruusgaard and Jørn Berge Larsen, and written by Cathinka Nicolaysen and Christina A. Owe.
“A series about online pornography and self-realization wasn’t at the top of my wish list, but the script was exceptionally good, and with a dream team of actors and Rune Langlo directing, I couldn’t say no. This is the dream role I didn’t know I wanted.”
Mariann Hole, Actress
‘MILF of Norway’ is described as a series that challenges and entertains, with layers of humour. It follows Lene, played by Hole, a woman in her early 40s living in a quiet town near Oslo with her husband Lars (played by Trond Fausa Aurvåg) and teenage son Mons. After losing her job, Lene discovers a niche in bunad (national costume) eroticism, leading to a secret and exhilarating new source of income and freedom.
“MILF of Norway is a series we are terribly proud of, and we think it’s incredibly exciting that this series will be launched alongside our new streaming service in Europe. It shows that the content we produce here in Norway has the potential to reach an international audience. We have proved many times before that we create content that resonates with both the heart and the laughing muscles and we are quite sure that MILF of Norway is no exception. This is a series with multiple layers that both challenges and entertains, brought to life by the fantastic Mariann Hole and Trond Fausa Aurvåg.”
Magnus Vatn, Editor-in-Chief at TVNorge and Program Director at Warner Bros. Discovery Norway
Storyline
The spark in the marriage has faded, and when Lene suddenly loses her job, she feels offended and at a loss. Mostly as a joke, she posts a scantily clad picture of herself wearing a bunad on the website InsideFans and discovers that bunad erotica is a niche that resonates. The new income is welcome, but even more important is the excitement and freedom she feels in her new, secret life.
In addition to ‘MILF of Norway’, the Swedish Max original documentary series ‘This is Benjamin Ingrosso‘ will premiere alongside it upon launch of the new streaming service.
