TV 2 Echo‘s new Danish suspense series ‘Dark Horse‘ is a dramatic story in six episodes with the lead roles Josephine Højbjerg and Birgitte Hjort Sørensen. The series will premiere on TV 2 Play and TV 2 Echo on January 21, 2024.
17-year-old Anna and her mother, Eva, move from China to a small Danish provincial town under strange circumstances. Over the years, the two have built a dysfunctional relationship. In a desperate attempt to fit into the unfamiliar surroundings, both Eva and Anna make a series of decisions that send them on a collision course with the law and each other.
‘Dark Horse’ is a story about the close relationship between a mother and daughter and how far Anna is willing to go to detach herself from her mother to find herself.
Josephine Højbjerg (‘Broen’/ ‘The Bridge’, ‘Hacker’) plays the role of Anna, and her mother is portrayed by Birgitte Hjort Sørensen (‘Borgen’, ‘Marie Krøyer’). Other cast include Mads Rømer, Nina Rask, Viktor Hjelmsø, Bathsheba Pauline Joy Oghomi-Hansen, Youssef Wayne Hvidtfeldt.
Monolit Film has produced the series written by Sara Isabella Jønsson (’Hvor kragerne vender’, ’Ustyrlig’) in collaboration with Mie Skjoldemose (‘Equinox’). ‘Dark Horse’ is directed by Conceptual Director Karoline Lyngbye (’Superposition’), and Director Katrine Brocks (’Den Store Stilhed’).
