‘Call Me Dad’ is created by the lead actors Alex Høgh Andersen and Magnus Haugaard. Besides being colleagues, they are also best friends in real life, sharing a vision for this modern comedy series that explores themes such as enduring friendship, love, and ethical dilemmas.
“To develop the project has been a fun, enlightening, and overwhelming process that has only fuelled our enthusiasm further. I believe most actors dream of launching their own original ideas, and for it to happen now feels genuinely surreal. And it’s a tremendous joy to create a project like this one, together with my very best friend. I’m extremely excited.”
Alex Høgh Andersen, Creator and Actor
“It’s through mine and Alex’s love for each other that the idea for the project was born – and that feeling is what we try to convey throughout the entire process. It hasn’t been a challenge at all because we are part of a team where the chemistry is simply excellent, and there’s a general consensus on the direction we want to take.”
Magnus Haugaard, Creator and Actor
The series is penned by Søren Felbo (‘Partiets mand’, ‘Orkesteret’) and directed by Christian Dyekjær (‘Guru’, ‘Fantasten’). Other cast members in ‘Call Me Dad’ includes Johanne Milland Pedersen, Roberta Reichhardt, Søren Sætter-Lassen, Peter Gantzler, Lone Rødbro, Bjarne Henriksen, Lila Nobel, Oscar Dyekjær Giese, Lado Hadzic, and Tommy Kenter.
“It has been my vision to create a modern comedy series that exudes visual and narrative abundance. A series that both entertains and simultaneously addresses something as essential as how we treat each other in 2024 – and not least, our common planet. It has been the greatest pleasure to work with two of the greatest acting talents of their generation. Overall, Viaplay’s viewers can look forward to seeing a modern comedy series with an exceptionally strong cast down to the smallest supporting role.”
Christian Dyekjær, Director
‘Call Me Dad’ is produced by Nordic Film Seriesfor Viaplay by producers Trin Hjortkjær Thomsen and Laura Frederikke Kragholm. The executive producer at Viaplay is Dorte Fuglsang.
