Prime Video has announced a roster with new Nordic original productions ‘Blind Spot‘, ‘VAKA’ and ‘Sven‘, as well as renewed seasons of ‘Furia‘ and ‘Solo‘, among others.
The new mystical crime series ‘Blind Spot‘ (original title: ‘Blindspor’), starring Pål Sverre Hagen (‘War Sailor’, Exit’, ‘Kon-Tiki’) and Ida Engvoll (‘A Man Called Ove’, Rebecka Martinsson’, ‘The Kingdom’), is one of Prime Video‘s key priorities for the Nordics. The series is an adaptation of the crime novel ‘1222‘ by award-winning and best-selling Norwegian writer Anne Holt.
Directed by Erik Skjoldbjærg (‘Occupied’, ‘Nokas’, ‘Insomnia’) and written in collaboration with Sara Heldt (‘The Sandhamn Murders’, ‘Death of a Pilgrim’), ‘Blind Spot’ is expected to premiere on Prime Video Nordics early in 2025. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Nordic Drama Queens, and Fifth Season.
‘Blind Spot’ Synopsis
When a train collides in a snow blizzard somewhere in the mountains between Stockholm and Narvik, the passengers and crew seek refuge in a nearby mountain hotel. Stranded at the remote resort and unable to continue their journey, a series of puzzling murders begin to unfold within the walls of the hotel. Two of the stranded passengers, a temporarily suspended police officer (Ida Engvoll) and a doctor (Pål Sverre Hagen), become involved in an investigation, trying to unravel the mystery.

Furthermore, the dystopian thriller series ‘VAKA‘, featuring award-winning actors Jonas Karlsson (‘The Snowman’, Harmonica’, ‘Detaljer’) and Aliette Opheim (‘The Dark Heart’, ‘Knutby’, ‘Caliphate’) is scheduled to start filming in March 2024. Set in Stockholm during an epidemic of insomnia, the series follows a disgraced Minister, an ambulance nurse, and a teenage girl as they navigate the chaos of a city in panic.
‘VAKA’ is created by Brynja Björk, and directed by Henrik Georgsson (‘The Bridge’, ‘Stieg Larsson: The Man Who Played with Fire’, ‘Sandor slash Ida’). The series is produced in collaboration between Amazon MGM Studios, Unlimited Stories, Sagafilm ehf, and Skybound Entertainment.

‘Sven‘ (original title: ‘Svennis’) is a documentary about the successful Swedish football manager and former player Sven-Göran Eriksson. He is recognized as the national team manager for England, and has also managed teams in nine other countries, in addition to being in charge of several prominent European football clubs.
Produced by Whisper and Up&Away Film, ‘Sven’ explores the rise and fall of Sven-Göran Eriksson’s career, intertwined with the heartbreaking truth surrounding his life-altering cancer diagnosis. Among the individuals we encounter in ‘Sven’ are football icons David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, Roberto Mancini, and Kasper Schmeichel. The documentary is expected on Prime Video in 2024.
